The Challenge
The homeowners loved their home but felt the main living spaces no longer supported the way they lived and entertained. The kitchen, though central to daily life, felt small and disconnected, making it difficult to cook, gather, and move comfortably between rooms. Circulation between the kitchen and dining area was constrained, and the only main-level bathroom lacked the space and functionality needed for everyday use. The challenge was to improve flow, expand the kitchen, and create more welcoming, functional spaces without losing the character the homeowners valued.
Our Solution
The remodel focused on opening and rebalancing the main level. By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, we created space for a generous island that serves as both a gathering point and a functional prep area. A reconfigured back wall of cabinetry allowed for a more efficient layout for cooking and storage, while shifting the rear hallway entrance created a clearer, more centered circulation path. A wet bar was incorporated near the entry using select original cabinetry, preserving a detail the homeowners loved while giving it new purpose.
Additional storage and functionality were layered throughout, including a discreet walk-in pantry that can be closed off when entertaining and a small drop zone with built-in bench just inside the breezeway. The main-level bathroom was fully reimagined with a larger shower, expanded vanity, and improved storage, bringing comfort and usability to the space. Updates to the breezeway and interior doors enhanced natural light and connection throughout the home. Together, these thoughtful changes transformed the kitchen into the heart of the home and created a layout designed for gathering, ease, and everyday living.
