At Housewrights, we take a hands-on approach that balances both function and aesthetics while ensuring designs are practical and achievable. Simply put, we create solutions that work in the real world.

As our client, you’ll be deeply involved in the process. From start to finish, we assign a dedicated team of design and construction professionals to your project. This means you’ll have regular communication with the lead designer and project manager throughout. We’ll guide you through your options and costs, empowering you to make decisions that prioritize your best interests.

Residential Design-Build Services

Design

We offer residential architectural and interior design, engineering, and financial feasibility and optimization services. Any project development services not provided by in-house staff are provided on an as-needed basis via specialist sub-contractors. Most frequently, this takes the form of surveying services; more occasionally, these services include landscape architecture, civil engineering, restoration architecture and advanced structural engineering.

Build

When it comes to building, we offer comprehensive general contracting for residential new home building, additions, remodels and restorations. Our considerable project management and skilled carpentry expertise means we have a constant presence on site for all manner of residential projects. We’re also proud to nurture longstanding relationships with area sub-contractors and suppliers, which ensure that the ‘team’ experience we provide extends to every aspect of our projects. We are a LEED safe certified company but do not handle any other hazardous materials.

Restorative.
Balanced.
Realistic.

So you’re ready to get started on your project. Let’s walk through the process of creating your dream design!

Phase 1

Design

It starts with seeing your space, whether it’s a new home build or a remodel. We’ll conduct an initial walkthrough and let you do the talking while we soak in your vision. Then, we’ll send in a pair of designers to conduct an additional walkthrough; in this one we’ll take measurements and make notes about your wants and needs. Our next step of the design phase is to present several design concepts; once you choose a concept, we’ll introduce you to our project manager to facilitate the proposal phase.

Phase 2

Proposal

This is where it starts to get real. We’ll share with you an extensive proposal for your projects. There won’t be any surprises here; price lists and timelines will be based on your chosen design concept and budget. You’ll receive the proposal in advance of a face-to-face meeting where we walk through every line of the packet to ensure the details check out. We’ll leave you as much time as you need to consider the proposal, and we’ll make adjustments according to your needs.

Phase 3

Build

Proposal signed? Time to build! You’ll receive a place in our production schedule along with a detailed schedule for your entire project. Over the course of the project, you’ll work closely with the assigned lead architect and project manager to ensure your vision is upheld, with minimal disruptions to your everyday life along the way. We caution clients that the beginning of a project can be stressful as we take out the old to make room for the new. Our team will be here for you to make the process as easy as possible. We also note that projects often seem to slow down near the end as we put on the final touches.  Once all is complete, we hope you enjoy your new space as much as we enjoyed creating it with you.
